Come spend your summer vacation hidden away in the Majestic Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Whether it is for a summer of relaxation or a weekend, you will find Ashe County and the small mountain town of West Jefferson has many interesting things to do.
Weekends are filled with music festivals, gallery crawls, and concerts in the park. Attend a wine and cheese tastings, an antique auction or a fun filled day of shopping in and around the area. Take a day canoeing the New River or an afternoon hiking the trails in and around Ashe County.
Ashe County offers two nice mountain golf courses, outstanding restaurants, a small downtown filled with unique shops, art galleries, antique malls, street art and some of the friendliest mountain folk found anywhere.
The New River meanders through the county offering camping, canoeing, fishing and rafting, or a bike ride along old river roads. The Blue Ridge Parkway makes its way through our area and Mount Jefferson State Park with an elevation of 5,000 feet looks down on the town of West Jefferson. Both parks are a botanical paradise and from the lookout areas, both the Blue Ridge Parkway and at the summit of Mount Jefferson, you can see forever.
